Currently, the best practice is to embed the link to the ebook content into the course management system instead of the content itself. Pasting a link instead of a downloaded PDF is less risky in terms of possible infringement because the link will only work if our site has access to the book and there is less guessing whether the amount of the item posted exceeds Fair Use or not.

Most of our ebook vendors allow for content to be downloaded onto devices, so students have that option once they open the ebook from the link. Usually this involves a log-in, which is like setting up an email or any other account. Sometimes the ebook vendor site will also prompt you to download their reader software.
