Use the author's last name and the year inside parenthesis.
Example: Jefferson traveled to France to be the ambassador for the United States (Foster, 2014).
If you've mentioned the author already you only need the year.
Example: Foster writes about Jefferson's travels to France and the work he did with that population in securing deals for the new United States (2014).
