If you are using Academic Search Complete, or any other EBSCOHost database, there will be limiters on the left hand side of the screen after your initial search. Beneath the limit by year slide bar will be a section called "Source Type." Within the Source Type limiter you can ask for just magazine, newspaper, etc. articles.
